Subject of the lesson: Geographical Position of Ukraine.


Objectives:

  • to develop pupils’ communication skills using active vocabulary on the topic;

  • to develop pupils’ skill in reading and writing;

  • to enrich pupils’ knowledge on the topic;

  • to focus pupils’ attention on specific words and word-combinations;

  • to cultivate love for our Motherland;

  • to teach children to respect their native country.


Equipment: English, 9 Form (V.M. Plakhotnyk, R.Yu. Martynova, S.L. Zakharova); English proverbs (Addition 1); Geographical terms (Addition 2); Map of Ukraine (Addition 3); Read and pronounce correctly (Addition 4); Match the questions with the answer (Addition 5); Key-facts (Addition 6); Skaleton map (Addition 7); Translate the sentences (Addition 8); Fill in the gaps with the words (Addition 9).


^ The Plan of the lesson


I. Introduction.

1. Aim.

Teacher: We are going to talk about geographical position of Ukraine. We have to activize the words and word-combinations during the lesson by using them in oral speech.

By the end of the lesson you should be able:

- to recognize and understand new words and word- combinations from the text “Ukraine”;

- to listen for the main idea and specific information;

- to talk about geographical position of Ukraine in brief.

2. Warm-up.

Teacher: Match the Ukrainian proverbs with the beginning of their equivalents. Complete the English proverbs. (Addition 1)

вдома.

e) Ukraine is rich in coal, iron, manganese ore, oil, gas, nickel, graphite, marble, etc.
