Анотація

Для забезпечення змістовного, естетичного повноцінного спілкування на уроках англійської мови пропонується методична розробка з додатковим матеріалом для учнів 5 класу.

Структура вправ дає змогу не тільки ознайомитись з найбільш поширеними словами, словосполученнями і реченнями, вживаними за певних обставин, а й самостійно конструювати діалоги за поданими зразками, моделювати різноманітні ситуації.

Додатковий матеріал до теми «Food» допоможе вчителю активізувати лексичні навички дітей з теми в різних видах мовленнєвої активності, закріпити вміння учнів одержувати інформацію з прочитаного тексту, розвивати навички говоріння з використанням інтерактивних методів навчання.

1.Little apples and big apples.

Little Ann like apples, she likes to look at them, she likes to play with them, she likes to eat them. Her mother gives her apples every day. But today the little girls mother has no apples. She can not give Ann an apple. But Ann wants to have an apple. She goes up to her mother and ask.

Ann. Mummy, I want an apple. Give me an apple, please.

Mother. It is evening now, my dear. Apples sleep in the evening. You must go to sleep too.

Ann. Oh, no mummy. Only little apples sleep. Give me a big apples, please, mummy.


2.The best time for apples

It was the first English lesson at a small village school after summer holidays. The lesson was about the seasons of the year.

Teacher: There are four seasons in the year. They are spring, summer, autumn and winter. In spring it is warm and everything begins to grow. In summer is hot. In autumn there are many vegetables and plenty of fruit. In winter it is cold and it often rains.

Stop talking, Tom. Of course, I know. It is when the farmer is not at home and there is no dog in the garden.

T. There stories are really very interesting and prove that people are fond of apples. Besides they are instructive and it seems to me you like them too. You played different roles. Do you like them?





3. T. you worked hard today, you did a lot of exercises. We got all fruit to make a holiday salad. We have only one task – to guess the riddles:

What is there on the ground

In the stripes, so big, so round?

Tere are ten letters in the word. (a water – melon)

It is a small red berry.

What is it? (a strawberry)

There are five letters in the name of this fruit.

It is red or green and it is neither big nor small.

What is it? (an apple)

DUNNO AND HIS FRIENDS

In one fairy town live little people. They are as little as small cucumbers. The town of these little people is very beautiful.

There are many flowers at every house. The names of the streets are wonderful. Little people have a street of Roses and Blue Bell Street. The name of the town is Flower Town.

Little people like to work. They gather big berries. It is hard work for little people.

Blue Bell Street is the street where Znaika lives. He likes to read books. That is why he is very clever. All little people of Flower Town love him.

Dunno does not want to learn and to read: « I know. I can do everything». He likes to repeat. I can draw. He says, but his pictures are very bad. « I can write poems». He says, but he writes such poems that little people only laugh at. All little people say: « Our Dunno is only a talker. »

Tell pupils to look at the picture of the bar and the menu in the theatre. Explain that during an interval people often buy something to eat or to drink.

Ask the prices of various items such as:

Are the egg sandwiches 2d? (Yes, they are.)

Is the chocolate milk 50p? (No, it’s 75p.)






Listen and read (English meals)

English meals

English people usually have four meals during the day: breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner or super. At about 8 o’clock in the morning people have breakfast. They eat porridge or cornflakes with milk or sugar, fried or boiled eggs with milk or sugar fried or boiled eggs with bacon, bread and butter or a toast with marmalade, or jam and cup of tea.

At 11 o’clock the English have lunch. At this time people hurry to cafes or pubs. They like to eat fish and chips, potatoes, beans, carrots, cabbage or peas. People usually drink tea, coffee, juice or lemonade. Schoolchildren have their lunch in the school canteen. Some children bring their packed lunch with sandwiches and fruit.

At about 5 o’clock the English have tea with milk, a cake or a roll with jam.

The English have the evening meal, dinner or supper. At 7 o’clock. People usually have a plate of soup, meat or chicken with vegetables, cheese, tinned fruit, ice-cream or an apple pie.

Speak in class. Tell your classmates what you know about English meals.


Agree or disagree

Show pupils some foods items (or pictures of foods) listed in the Grammar box. Ask: What’s this? (a biscuit, some bread)

Countable nouns uncountable nouns

Use a or an with countable noun

Uncountable nouns don’t have a plural form.

Remind pupils of the items such as a packet of flour, a bottle of juice / water, a loaf of bread.

REVISION

Ask pupils questions, which they can answer using some / any such as:

Have you got any crayons?

Are there any posters in the room?

I’ve got some make-up in my bag.

Have you got any?

Review verbs used when giving instructions for making things. Mine the following verbs or write each on a piece of paper and invite a pupil to look at the world and then mime the verb in front of the class.

For example, for mix, hold and imaginary bowl and a big spoon and mix the ingredients in the bowl. Other verbs: peel, slice, boil, chop, grill, fry, mash, rinse, pour, sprinkle.

Oral practice

  1. As I have already told you, at the end of the lesson you will write a recipe. To make a recipe, we should know the food-words. Before coming here I had gone to the market and bought some food. (Учитель демонструє кошик з їжею.) Tell me, what did I buy? Read the worlds, please. (Учитель показує надруковані англійською мовою слова.) Well done.

  2. And now show me the picture of – (ham), please. (Контроль розуміння вивченої лексики.)

  3. Match the pictures to the names of food and name them. (Броунівський рух)



Presenting and Practical Vocabulary

I have got a very funny rhyme for you. We will finish the lines like real poets. Are you poets? Lets see. Which is the main thing in the poem?

Перед вами вірш. А що головне у вірші? Правильно – рима. – Right you are. It’s a rhyme. Lets try to find it together. Давайте разом її підберемо.

Juice, macaroni, tea, spaghetti, ham, coffee.

I am Bruce. I like …(juice).

I am Sophie. I like …(coffee).

Vocabulary Revision

T. As far as this lesson is seasonal we repeat vocabulary in the following way. I will show you different cards of vegetables, fruits and berries from my basket. Your task is to pronounce words correctly after me.

We have three baskets and three kinds of cards with vegetables, fruit and berries. Three pupils will go to the backboard; the first pupil will choose only fruits and put them into the basket. The second will choose vegetables and the third pupil will find berries, and put them into the basket.

The winner will be the pupil who will do this as quickly as possible and name the things correctly.

Andrew. I do not think so. Tom is not a bad pupil. He is maybe not attentive. I and Tom are alike. Sometimes I also do not listen to a teacher.

Tania. Olena, do you like to play a role of a teacher?

Olena. Yes of course. My mother is a teacher too.

Tania. Nastia, do you want to be a small girl?

Nastia. No, I do not. But I like apples too.

Tania. Vitalyk, were you in such situation as John?

Vitalyk. Luckily, I was not. But I think John is not a bad boy. It was a good lesson for him. He will not steal any more.

Tania. Dima, do you like a story about Tom?

Dima. Yes, I do. I can recognize myself in Tom. This story is very interesting.



Writing

T. Children, I would like you to think of the colors associated in your mind with fruits, vegetables and berries.

Open your exercise-books. The colors are written on the blackboard. Please, write the name of fruits, vegetables and berries which can be of these colors.

Relaxation

Do you know that every country has a traditional dish. And every dish has its own history. Try to guess which country does this dish come from?
